In Demand: Wood Rings, Camo Wedding Rings and Celtic Tungsten Rings

Thursday, July 11th, 2013

In the midst of the busiest time of year for weddings, trends become clearer and clearer as the season develops. With so many choices available to couples this wedding season, the overwhelming choice as the favorite wedding band of newlywed couples is without a doubt unique wedding rings, wood rings, camo wedding rings and celtic wedding bands.

In other words, couples are searching high and low for that unique piece of jewelry that turns heads and gets people talking. Gone are the days of “cookie cutter” wedding rings. Today’s bride and groom want unique materials, intricate designs and eclectic styling. So it’s no wonder wooden rings, camo wedding bands and celtic wedding rings have leaped onto the wedding scene and got people talking.

Using unique materials like bloodwood, zebrawood and burl wood, or intricate designs like digital camo and interwoven Celtic designs, these wedding ring newcomers are satisfying couple’s thirst for one-of-a-kind pieces.

At the end of the day, wedding rings have come to symbolize so many things. The band reflects couples’ unbreakable bond and undying love, while the recent style trends showcase brides and grooms’ need for a unique style they can call their own.

NFL Combine: Going for that Ring

Wednesday, February 27th, 2013

40-yd dash

Do you remember what you were doing right out of college? Probably weren’t running a sub-5 40-yd dash or bench pressing 250 lbs. But that’s what some future NFL stars were up to this past week in Indianapolis.

Less than a month after the Super Bowl, over 300 former college players came together to participate in six workout drills meant to measure the raw talents and athletic ability they might bring to potential teams that draft them come April. These drills include: the shuttle run, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, 3-cone drill and, the sometimes dreaded, 40-yard dash.

All eyes were on big names like Manti Te’o, whose 40-yd time was less than stellar and likely cost him a few spots in the draft, Montee Ball of Wisconsin and Geno Smith of West Virginia. Each athlete looked impress potential teams and get their names as high up the draft board as possible. The higher the pick, the more money.

But money aside, what it really all boils down to is getting into the NFL and going for that ring. Baltimore Ravens fans and players know all about it. They held off the 49ers at this year’s Super Bowl and many players will be receiving their first championship ring. If it’s anything like the ones the Ravens picked up in 2000, it’s no wonder these players gut it out to reach their goal and flash the bling of a Super Bowl ring.

Ravens Super Bowl Ring

It just goes to show you, whether it’s championship rings or wedding rings, a man’s ring is important to him and he’ll do whatever it takes to get it. Whether it’s a championship ring all decked out in diamonds and precious metals or black wedding bands and camo wedding rings, a man’s ring is a status symbol and a point of pride.

Remember, it’s all about the ring. That ring can get your man to do stuff like this:

What Kind of Ring Should a Woman Propose With To a Man?

Friday, September 14th, 2012

Monica proposes to Chandler on the hit TV show Friends

Any casual Friends fan can remember this moment in TV land: Monica Gellar and Chandler Bing, who had been dating for some time, finally tied the knot one fateful season finale after a slew of mishaps and drama hindered Chandler’s original plan to propose. At the end of the two-part episode, Chandler is tricked into believing that Monica has gone away to think about her relationship with him, and instead finds her inside their apartment with dozens of candles lit. Monica gets down on one knee and begins to propose but can’t finish because she gets choked up on her own tears. Chandler gets down with her and says a choked up speech of his own, asks her to marry him, and the crowd goes wild!

But did you notice? Monica didn’t have a ring for Chandler. We can only assume that she didn’t have a ring because she knew he had one (i.e. Joey’s involvement). But what kind of ring would she have proposed with if she didn’t know? Or even better, would she have proposed with a ring at all?

There are some who say a woman should have a diamond engagement ring ready for her groom to be, a ‚Äúmangagement‚Äù ring. Some men are open to the idea of wearing diamond rings, where as others see diamonds (especially on rings) reserved for females. For these men, women may opt to propose with a wedding ring that would be intended for the ceremony’s bands.

Whatever the case maybe, Tungsten World offers exceptional wedding bands for men with and without diamonds. Tungsten rings are quickly becoming a popular choice for men’s wedding bands due to their scratch resistance and affordability. Add laser etched designs and a couple of diamonds, and you have some the most unique wedding rings to choose from!

Did You Know…. The Many Uses of Tungsten

Friday, August 31st, 2012

How did you first hear of tungsten? Maybe a friend or a co-worker swore by their tungsten wedding bands and their durability. Or your significant other asked for tungsten rings specifically as their wedding band. You might have even seen a nice pair of carbon fiber tungsten cufflinks at a meeting in the office.

In the wedding and jewelry industries, tungsten has garnered a reputation as the most durable alternative metal. Tungsten is now synonymous with forever wedding bands. But you might be surprised at how many other things tungsten has been utilized in, and for quite some time! Don’t forget, tungsten has been a known element for over 200 years.

The History of Tungsten

Here are a few things you may not know that have benefited from the use of tungsten:

Light Bulb
Light Bulbs: When Thomas Edison developed the light bulb, he went through many types of filaments before settling on tungsten as the longest lasting for his new invention. Many bulbs today still use tungsten filaments over 100 years later.

Tungsten Iridium Sunglasses
Sunglasses: Yup, your shades could have tungsten in the lenses. Sunglass experts like Oakley have been using tungsten iridium lenses to perfect the polarized lenses in sunglasses. Need a pair to cut down the glare of your tungsten wedding rings’ high polish shine? Try these tungsten iridium lenses.

Tungsten Drill Bits
Tungsten Drill Bits: Builders have been using tungsten in their drill bits for years. The hardness of tungsten is simply unparalleled and great for all kinds of practical uses on the job site.

NASCAR
Race Car Ballast: NASCAR and Formula One have both used tungsten as weight and balance for their high performance vehicles. Now you can tell your friends with confidence that your tungsten ring is a high performance wedding band.

We’ve Got a Winner!

Monday, July 9th, 2012

At Tungsten World, we’re always looking for feedback from customers regarding the tungsten wedding bands they’ve purchased and our service. As a thank you, each quarter we randomly select one customer’s review from the many hundreds we receive throughout the three months to be our review of the quarter. Winners receive a stunning tungsten carbide watch with swiss quartz movement, and we’ve just had another winner!

Congratulations go out to Tim in South Carolina. We numbered all the reviews received from April through the end of June, and Tim’s was selected by a random-number generator. As our “Review Your Tungsten Ring Contest” winner, we’re sending Tim the tungsten watch below:

Tungsten Watch with Swiss Quartz Movement

Tungsten World wants to thank all the customers that sent in reviews, your comments help us keep our tungsten rings and customer service at the absolute best year in and year out and even help other customers decide the best ring for them with all your great advice. So thank you, and thank you, Tim. Below is the winning review Tim sent in:

I have had this ring for the past almost 3 1/2 years. This is actually the second ring I have had. The first ring i received was Thor. Which, by the way, is an awesome ring. I loved that one as well. The reason I switched to the Infinity was after about eight months I lost a considerable amount of weight and my first ring was falling off constantly. (Side note, return policy is awesome and super easy to use!) When I switched to the Infinity ring I loved it the second it came out of the box. Still love it and all this time later it still looks just as nice and shiny as the first day i received it. I don’t take it off to do outside work either. One afternoon I had to carry some cinder blocks across the yard not thinking about it I picked up the first set of blocks (one in each hand). As the full weight of the blocks was pressing into my hands I felt what can only be described as a digging gash into my ring. Scared to look at it at that point i carried the blocks expecting to be very upset when i put them down. Upon setting the blocks down and looking to my ring to see how bad the damage was. I was amazed to see nothing! not one scuff let alone scratch. These rings are super tuff! Not once have i had a regret with this company or this ring! In fact I have referred three of my friends to Tungsten World and all of them have bought their wedding rings from here and they all love theirs as well.

10 Must-haves for a Groom on the Big Day

Monday, June 18th, 2012

Here’s a fun one for your Monday. We put together a list of the 10 must-haves for a groom on his wedding day. Some are absolutely essential, some are no-brainers, and some are just funny.

Did you remember these on your big day?

10. Dress Socks– Leave the white athletic socks at home, guys. Those white cotton socks are not going to look good with your tux. Trust us.

9. Watch– Don’t be late on your wedding day!

8. Directions– Sure you picked out the venue, but with the hundreds of things on your mind on your wedding day, a set of directions just in case might be prudent.

7. Tie– Whether it’s a bow tie or traditional tie, we know you hate wearing them and you’re going to only put it on at the very last minute. Just be sure you have it with you. Running home to get it before the ceremony starts would be no fun.

6. Bride’s gift– It’s traditional for bride and groom to exchange gifts before the wedding. We recommend something she can wear during the wedding like a tungsten heart pendant, but whatever you decide to get for her, don’t forget it. And wrap it nicely, too!

5. Cellphone– You never leave home without it anyways, right? Just be sure it’s off during the ceremony.

4. Vows– Especially if you wrote your own, a few note cards will fit nicely in your pocket and there’s no shame taking them out of you need them.

3. Deodorant– You don’t want to sweat through your tux and after the long night you’ll spend dancing after the ceremony, your bride will thank you.

2. Groomsmen Gifts– Another tradition, get the guys backing you up something nice to wear as a thank you. Watches are a classy gift or even matching cufflinks for them to wear during the ceremony.

1. The Wedding Rings– A million and one things on your mind and you forget the wedding rings? Don’t be that groom. You and your bride are the stars of the day, but your durable tungsten wedding bands are the symbol that seals the deal.

6mm or 8mm: Which Width is Right for You?

Wednesday, June 13th, 2012

Are 6mm rings for women? Do men’s bands only come in 8mm? Can a lady wear an 8mm tungsten ring? These are all questions we answer frequently for our customers in regards to the width of their wedding ring or casual tungsten band. And the truth is, your ring’s width is just as personal as your ring size.

But if you are still unsure what width will look best on your hand, whether it’s 6mm or 8mm, or even 4mm or 10mm, here is a quick guide:

CLASSIQUE 6MM

MODERNO 8MM

8mm wide tungsten rings and cobalt ring are generally preferred by guys due to their longer fingers. But with sizes as low as 6.0, wider rings for ladies are now in vogue.

– For matching wedding sets, couples will usually get 6mm wide for the woman and 8mm wide for the man. (For more on the difference between men’s and women’s rings, see our resource page on the subject HERE.)

– 4mm is almost always a lady’s band, however, men not use to wearing jewelry or looking for a very traditional wedding band width (traditional wedding bands were 4mm to 5mm for men and women) will also wear 4mm wide rings.

– 10mm is the widest width we carry, while it’s only 2mm wider than our 8mm rings, it does look considerably wider once on your finger.

Choosing the Right Tungsten Retailer: Getting a Forever Wedding Band

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

If you’re in the market for wedding bands, you’re well aware there are hundreds of online jewelers and retailers vying for you business. Nothing wrong with a bit of choice. But how do you know you’re getting a wedding band that is going to last the test of time?

If it’s unique and durable wedding bands that you’re looking for, here’s a few tips on finding the right retailer for your forever tungsten wedding band:

– Judge a book by its cover: What does the retailer’s homepage look like? Are their products organized and pictures clear? Is it easy to navigate and can you find their contact information easily? These are all questions you’ll want to have in mind as you shop the online retailer’s equivalent of a first impression.

– Warranties and Policies: While tungsten wedding bands and cobalt rings are the toughest on the market, what if something goes wrong? Make sure the retailer prominently displays their warranty and policies in the off chance you need to have your ring repaired or replaced.

– Too High, Too Low: Price obviously matters, but is the retailer’s price too good to be true? There’s a big different between well-price tungsten wedding bands and “cheap” tungsten wedding bands
